I have several Shun knives and they are of excellent quality so I expected the same for the mandolin. It is as I expected. I had one small problem with the main blade...there are two pieces of plastic that hold it in place in the mandolin and one broke off when I was removing the blade. I don't know if it was pilot error or if it is just a weak point in the blade. I emailed Shun and received a new blade within a few days...free of charge...no questions asked. That kind of service is truly unique and unexpected in these times. I think if I am just more careful next time it will not continue to be a problem. This mandolin is worth the investment if you can afford it.
