This review is from: Cuisinart SM-FP Food-Processor Attachment for Cuisinart Stand Mixer, White (Kitchen) I absolutely love my Cuisinart Stand Mixer and have been slowly purchasing the attachments as needed. This one was a mistake; not for lack of productivity though. As a food processor it works fantastically. The attachment is FAR too LOUD. As written previously by another reviewer, I don't know who could stomach the unit running on Speed 12! I can barely go past 4 or 5. I have only used this attachment once because of the noise - it is the most ear shattering racket you will ever hear. I decided to purchase a dedicated food processor appliance and use my mixer solely for mixing, pasta making and blending (I received the blender attachment free, but have yet to use it - hopefully it's quieter, but it uses the same power port as the food processor). This attachment will do the job, but I recommend investing your money into a separate unit to spare your hearing, and not to scare your pets and children. If I had paid for it, I'm not sure that I would have kept it. The stand mixer is a 5 star product - I love it! The processor attachment has some "issues". It only functions well at the highest speed setting which is not made clear enough in the instructions. Once I figured that out, I had much better luck. It is very convenient for small jobs and does a reasonable job of grinding, but it will definitely not replace a full-size processor, the bowl is small. I didn't have much luck slicing some vegetables which is smashed rather than sliced, but I tried that in the very beginning before I realized that it needed to be set at the highest speed. Will have to try that again. It's biggest problem is noise. It is loud - I mean loud - I mean hold your hands over your ears to prevent deafness loud. First time out of box, couldn't even cut an onion. I had the correct holding plate and blade installed correct side up. Quartered a normal yellow onion, and the machine crushed it instead of cutting it. I could get it to work with the larger grate if I literally put all my body weight on top of it. Piece of junk. I will be returning it. Granted I did give the thing a workout cutting fries the first day but I didn't expect the blades to explode all over the kitchen when the plastic casing around the blades broke. I contacted Ronco customer care via e-mail to see if I could purchase a new french fry blade and they did not respond. Recommend going on e-bay and purchasing a "vintage" model. This review is from: Ronco FS100200GEN Veg-o-Matic Food Chopper and Slicer (Kitchen) My mom got one of these for a wedding gift. I'm 37 and it still works! Unfortunately, the item pictured is not what you get. The picture is of the original model. The metal cutting rings shown have been replaced with cheaper plastic rimmed ones. The plastic pins on the springs that make top pop up broke on the first potato. I'll still use it but this is no where near the quality product the original was. I've had a bunch of these slicers and they all require a lot of force for potatoes. But I've always found the Veg-o-Matic to be the easiest to use and clean. This review is from: Vox APCAB 1x8 Guitar Amplifier Cabinet (Electronics) I love the sound this thing gives - I use my metal amplug and it sounds great at a very low volume. My knock with it is the wire that runs from the unit and plugs into the amplug wasn't soldered well at all. Any bump and the amp will cut out - and you have ti wiggle it to get it to come back, sometimes you really have to jerk the wire around to get the sound back. The other issue is that there's no access to this wire on the inside to fix it yourself unless you gut the insides. Parts are glued in front of where the connections are so you can't get to them to resolder unless you basically break the unit. Bottom line - great sound - crappy build - even at this price they could have done a better job soldering that wire. I can't decide if I should risk buying another one to see if they are all like that or maybe just break this one down and fix it and not worry about what it looks like after I do that. They are IMHO the best tool you can get for home practice. So it's nice that they made this available for an ultra portable mini amp set up to work with the different models. It adds to the convenience that makes the tool so great. That said, you can get a better sounding mini amp that will keep a nice tone at higher volume, if you don't mind lugging something slightly bulkier around. In that case, check out the Roland Micro Cube.
